I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all professionals, specialists, and diligent colleagues in the field of standardization on the occasion of World Standards Day, October 14, 2025.
Standards are one the key indicators of sustainable development, quality enhancement, safety assurance, and facilitation of domestic and international trade, and play a fundamental role in achieving economic development goals. This year, World Standards Day is celebrated under the theme of the SDG 17, entitled “Partnerships for the Goals”.
This theme emphasizes the importance of synergy, effective collaboration, and networking among organizations, government, private sector, and civil society to collectively achieve sustainable development goals at both national and international levels.
As the leading authority in the development, promotion, and advancement of standards, the Iran National Standards Organization (INSO), has taken effective strides towards sustainable development and achieving constructive interaction by leveraging laboratory facilities and equipment, as well as the technical expertise of its specialists, while encouraging the effective participation of all stakeholders.
Notable achievements of INSO include the development and revision of nearly 36,000 national standards across various sectors, including industry, agriculture, services, and environment, aimed at facilitating trade, safeguarding consumer rights, and improving the quality of life for the public. Furthermore, INSO has strengthened international collaboration with organizations such as ISO, IEC, SMIIC, and other national and international standardization bodies through active participation in international projects and technical committees.
Standards, as a common language, enhance trust among stakeholders and facilitate international cooperation. Implementing standards within a framework of targeted collaboration contributes significantly to increasing the competitiveness of domestic products in global markets, improving social welfare, and protecting the environment.
It is hoped that through solidarity, synergy, and collective commitment at national and international levels, the path toward achieving sustainable development goals will be further reinforced by the adherence of all members of society to producing goods and services in accordance with standards.
