INSO President message on World Standards Day 2024
2024-10-12

Dear Colleagues,
As we celebrate World Standards Day 2024, we embrace the significance of this year’s theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World”. The theme underscores the importance of collaboration across industries and nations to develop standards that enhance safety, efficiency, and quality in our increasingly interconnected world.
In 2024, we identified several key trends that shape international standardization efforts including but not limited to AI and its ethical use, sustainability, climate change, cybersecurity, supply chain, and net zero. These areas demand robust, forward-looking standards to guide growth and manage emerging risks.
Today, the integration of artificial intelligence in technology and standards development is inevitable. AI has the potential to revolutionize industries, streamline processes, and foster sustainable practices. However; as we delve into these advancements, it is essential to have meaningful regional and international collaboration.
By working together and sharing best practices, we can address challenges unique to different regions while maintaining global alignment in creation of standards that guide ethical AI use, and ensuring inclusivity, transparency, and accountability in its deployment.
Our collective efforts in establishing robust standards will not only promote innovation but also help mitigate risks associated with emerging technologies. By fostering a shared vision, we can harness the power of AI to address global challenges and create a better future for all.
Let’s be committed to working together towards these goals, strengthening our partnerships, and sharing best practices. Together, we can realize the ultimate potentialities of standards to shape a world that is not only technologically advanced but also equitable and sustainable for all.
Last but not least, on behalf of myself and my colleagues in the Iran National Standards Organization (INSO), I would like to congratulate October 14, the World Standards Day.

Best regards,
Dr. Mahdi Eslampanah
INSO President
